Is Prince Charles a secret Good-lifer? |
26th May, 2006 |
If I woke up one night to find Lara digging a big hole in the garden, I wouldn't be surprised. Before you jump to the wrong conclusion, I don't think she's plotting to kill me. Sure, she might threaten to kill me from time to time (cue last week when me and the kids took apart Matt's bike and laid it out all over the kitchen floor). But she's only kidding. Isn't she...? Anyway, I don't for a minute think she's planning to bury me in the garde ..

The perils of HRT |
19th May, 2006 |
I've been wrong all along. Who really needs food, vitamins and a healthy lifestyle anyway? Come on, people, this is the 21st Century. It's all about inventing wondrous drugs! You can take the purple one for being too fat, the green one for being too thin, the red one for lacking energy in bed, and the yellow one for jumpy legs. Yes, they're synthetic. Yes, they're expensive. And yes they have sideeffects. But we all have many awful disease ..

A vitamin that can battle old age |
12th May, 2006 |
I was at my Goddaughter's house up in Sheffield a few weeks back. Matt, her dad and my old university friend, had set up a small trampoline in the garden. After bouncing for a while, she clambered off and said, 'You have a go, Uncle Ray.' Well, it looked sturdy enough. But I hadn't been on a trampoline since I was about 15. As usual, I immediately thought I was still able to turn a few tricks. 'Watch this,' I said, lifting myself into the ..

Why there's no cure for heart disease |
02 September 2005 |
It's one of the big cons of modern times. Since the late 1960s and 70s, scientists have been searching for a cure for cancer. 'We're nearly there,' they say every year, 'just give us some more cash.' And here we are in 2005. Cancer everywhere, and yet still no cure for cancer. Hmmm... They say the same about the cure for diabetes, and a host of ailments of the 21st Century. But could it be that the 'cure' isn't the answer? There are no pat ..

You won't believe what's bad for you now... |
09 September 2005 |
I watched in horror as Lara edged the fork towards her mouth... 'Nooooooooo...' I shouted in slow motion, as I hurled myself across the dining room table, grabbed the fork from her hand, and landed catlike on the floor. I'd just saved Lara's life. Another second and I'd have been too late... Because I'd just stopped her from eating a mouthful of chicken, a source of that wellknown 'killer' vitamin - Vitamin B6. All right, this is a made up sc ..

How this tree bark could protect you from a deadly threat |
5th May, 2006 |
The weirdest thing happened to my friend's wife, Alison, while they were on holiday in Australia recently. She was walking down the road, minding her own business, when suddenly she had tremendous difficulty in breathing. In fact, it was painful. So painful that rather than go and have breakfast (and they really do good breakfasts over there), she went to see a doctor. At first the doctor thought it was a punctured lung. 'Did you feel your ..

Sugar - the great healer? |
23rd September 2005 |
I'm always grateful to receive emails from readers. Sometimes they make me sad, happy AND angry, all at the same time. Sad because so many of you must cope with ailments that make a sciatic nerve problem seem like a stubbed toe. Happy because you seem to find my weekly investigations useful. And angry because the establishment still won't register many of the powerful alternative remedies you have every RIGHT to try. For example, I recently ..

The Homer Simpson way to save lives |
16th September 2005 |
You might think it's only ladies who shout 'YES! YES! YES!' when they experience a new hair product in the shower... But at 9.40 a.m. on September 10th I did exactly the same thing in a crowded cafe in Bristol. All right, not EXACTLY the same thing. I wasn't washing my hair, I was reading a paper. But when I came across the information I'm about to share with you now, I let out an embarrassing whoop... ------------------------------ The kind ..

You know me, I'm not one to moan... Oh come on! Not that much anyway! But I have to say, my back is still causing me A LOT of pain. Men! This is important |
26 September 2005 |
I was shocked when I found out... Could it be that prostate cancer will be the most common cause of cancerrelated death by 2010? You'd think there would be more of brouhaha in the press about this... that The Daily Mail would be screaming: WARNING TO ALL MEN! DANGER! EPIDEMIC AHEAD! PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY! But strangely, the papers will go on and on about obesity and other big news stories... like Kate Moss' social life... but not the bigges ..
