Men! This is important
26 September 2005
I was shocked when I found out...
Could it be that prostate cancer will be the most common cause of cancerrelated death by 2010?
You'd think there would be more of brouhaha in the press about this... that The Daily Mail would be screaming:
WARNING TO ALL MEN! DANGER! EPIDEMIC AHEAD! PLEASE READ IMMEDIATELY!
But strangely, the papers will go on and on about obesity and other big news stories... like Kate Moss' social life... but not the biggest cancer threat of our times.
Why is that?
-------------------------------
The truth about prostate cancer
-------------------------------
Prostate cancer is rapidly becoming the most common cancer among men (women do not have a prostate gland.) Already prostate cancer is the second biggest cause of cancer death in the UK.
Each year, doctors diagnose prostate cancer in around 20,000 UK men. Ten thousand die from the disease.
That's roughly one man an hour!
But because it's a disease that affects elderly people, (72 years of age is the average for death from prostate cancer) the media don't give it enough due attention.
This is a dangerous situation. The Institute of Cancer Research suggests that one in four men will suffer from prostate cancer by 2018.
As the population ages, so will prostate cancer increase.
Otherwise fit and healthy men in their 70s could be brought to their knees unnecessarily, and this cancer will become a nationwide medical crisis.
So what can you do?
---------------------------------
Information that could save lives
---------------------------------
Well, the key to protecting your prostate is to arm yourself with all the information you need. No hype, no waffle, no bull. Just facts and sound advice.
One of the best books in my library for this is, 'How to Fight Prostate Cancer & Win', by William L. Fischer.
It explains prostate cancer in detail, and then proceeds to give you all the options and advice you need. Including...
The secrets of flower pollen and royal jelly... How a prostate problem can affect your sex life... and dietary changes you should make immediately to help prevent the onset of prostate cancer.
The book is packed with vital exercises, contacts, phone numbers and recipes.
But most immediately useful is Fischer's suggested range of homemade herbal teas. I've jotted them down here for you so you can give them a try...

Teas that ease prostate problems
--------------------------------
|
GOLDENSEAL TEA
For inflammation of the prostate, colon and rectum...
Steep 1 teaspoon dried goldenseal root in 1 cup of boiling water for three minutes. Strain and sip hot. The tea may be sweetened with honey.
Frequency: Drink several cups throughout the day. (This herb is NOT to be used by pregnant women).
-----------------------------------------------------
CLUBMOSS TEA
For inflammation of the testes...
Pour 1 pint of boiling water over 1 level teaspoon club moss. Steep for 5 minutes and drain.
Frequency: Drink only 1 cup daily on an empty stomach - best if used a half-hour before breakfast.
-----------------------------------------------------
STINGING-NETTLE TEA
To relieve suppressed urination...
Pour 6 ounces of freshly boiled water over 1 heaped teaspoon of the herb. Cover and steep for 3 minutes. Strain and sip unsweetened.
Frequency: Sip several cups throughout the day. Do not sweeten. If you find the tea bitter, add a little chamomile or mint to the mix.
-----------------------------------------------------
WILD-THYME TEA
A natural diuretic...
Pour 6 ounces of freshly boiled water over 1 heaped teaspoon of wild thyme, either fresh or dried. Cover and steep for three or four minutes. Strain and sweeten with honey.
Frequency: Drink 1 cup daily.
-----------------------------------------------------
GREATER-CELANDINE TEA
To ease painful urination and combat liver problems...
Pour 1 pint freshly boiled water over 2 level teaspoons of the 'greater celandine', a powerful herb. Strain and sip. (Honey may be added to sweeten.)
Frequency: Drink several cups throughout the day.
-----------------------------------------------------
DAMIANA TEA
To treat impotency...
Place 2 teaspoons of dried damiana in a cup. Add hot water and let steep for three to five minutes. Strain and drink hot.
Frequency: 1 cup daily.
(Do not overuse, as liver damage may result.)
