MRSA: Natures answer |

It looks like rain's on its way up here in Bristol... So there's no way I can accompany Lara to the shops today. The car's a good five metres from the house, and if I time it wrong, I could get soaked to the skin... ...which means I'd be walking around in cold, wet clothes whilst my body temperature rises due to being dragged from one department store to another... ...which would cause a temperature imbalance, which in turn would leave me op ..

A new revelation about coffee |
27th April 2007 |
As you've probably guessed, I'm a voracious reader. I read pretty much anything. If someone leaves a leaflet on a park bench. I'll pick it up and take a look. If a gibbering man on the street is giving away books about Scientology, the End of the World or reincarnation, I take THREE copies. And… you might find this weird... but I deliberately subscribe to as many mail-order catalogues as possible. Not only is it a good way of finding out ..

Why the 30th April could spell an end to your freedom |
20th April 2007 |
Imagine a world where natural herbs and supplements are OUTLAWED. Where natural vegetable juice is classed as a DRUG. Where health food stores are stripped of all their products and banned from selling anything stronger than a cup of water. Where naturopaths are FORBIDDEN to practise their craft... imprisoned or fined when they try to pass on their knowledge... Where people with cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer's aren't allowed to seek ou ..

The powerful combination that does so much good |
17th December 2006 |
Well I survived, but it was Hell. I'm talking about last Friday's 'fun' shopping trip. Four hours of elbowing through crowds, standing outside a changing room while Lara tried on twenty party dresses before buying the first one, nearly losing the children, walking past pubs without going in... I tell you, I must have been a murderer in my past life for this to happen to me. Still, I'm back in one piece (though the mental scars will last fo ..

Do this before bedtime to reduce heart disease... |

New research suggests that I, Ray Collins, am a descendant of Montezuma II - Emperor of the Aztecs. Or maybe I was Montezuma in a past life. I can just see myself draped in gold and feathers, sitting on a throne with an army of maidens to do my bidding. And if Montezuma's wife was forever telling him he should give his chariot a wash and clear out the garage - then my theory is conclusive. So why do I think I'm a long lost son of the Aztecs. ..

30th March 2007 |
Before I get on with today's letter, packed with the best reader tips from my email inbox… I urge you to look out for Sunday's Good Life Letter, as I'll reveal details of an exciting new service. I've been sitting on this news for a while, and to be honest I'm dying to tell you right now… But NO. I don't want to tell you until it's actually 100% ready to go. All I can say it that it's a vital extra service to add to your Good Life Letter ex ..

How to get healthy by opening your back door... |
11th March 2007 |
If you've been following my letters over recent weeks, you'll know that I'm banging the drum about buying local produce. In fact, I'm convinced that making sure your fresh food comes from a local supplier is more important than worrying about whether it's organic or not. Which is why this letter from fellow Good Lifer Penny interested me so much... Dear Ray Dandelion is now coming out in the garden don't dig it up, eat it - put leaves in ..

Forgive me if you're one of my most loyal readers… So much that you know the names of my kids, my favourite rugby player, and what I'm wearing NOW. (No, it's not “nothing”…. I'm actually wearing a cardigan that has been described by many admirers as 'snazzy'.) But in case you didn't read it in a previous letter… Last year, my father was diagnosed with having senile dementia. It's in its early stages but, of course, being a health researcher ..

Sometimes I think scientists decide to conduct a study specifically with me in mind… Really. Some of their research seems so bizarre, you'd think there were hundreds of scientists sitting around all day, scratching their eggshaped heads, wondering what to study next... 'Hey, have we tested the effects of a wind tunnel on a chicken before?' 'Yeah, we did that one back in '97. The results were inconclusive.' 'Hmmmm... how about side effects of ..

How I can save you £2,963 and help you get healthier |
9th March 2007 |
“I'm going to the Oscars in two weeks and I can't fit into the latest Dior dress!” I'm sure that sense of panic is familiar to all of us. Well, all right, maybe not exactly... If you swap 'going to the Oscars in two weeks' for 'going to down The Dug and Duck for a cheeky half', then that's a bit more like it in my case. (I'm not going to comment on the Dior dress - that's between me and Lara) Seriously though, we've all suffered those irra ..
