A reader's weight loss secret revealed

30th March 2007

Before I get on with today's letter, packed with the best reader tips from my email inbox…

I urge you to look out for Sunday's Good Life Letter, as I'll reveal details of an exciting new service.

I've been sitting on this news for a while, and to be honest I'm dying to tell you right now…

But NO.

I don't want to tell you until it's actually 100% ready to go.

All I can say it that it's a vital extra service to add to your Good Life Letter experience… it was cocreated by yours truly…. and it's completely free.

Cryptic, eh?

I'll leave you in suspense for now. Let's get stuck into some information that could make you healthier and happier…

Exciting letters from you, the reader

I've been getting an absolute stack of emails from Good Lifer's recently. Which is brilliant, and keep them coming!

As I always say, I can't promise that I'll respond to each and every one of them. I'm afraid It would be an impossible task.

But I do read them all, and use them as a springboard for my research.

And when I get useful tips sent to me (and there are many), I try and publish them so that all my readers can get the benefit.

So without further ado….

A reader reveals her weight loss 'honey secret'

One reader writes:
'I'm indebted to you for the weight loss from the honey, garlic and vinegar tablets. Weight had slipped on through the menopause. It wouldn't shift by the usual cutting-down methods and exercise, which had always worked in the past.

Over a period of 18 months I spoke to my doctor, a dietician and a herbalist, read widely and tried some ideas from other companies. What I was looking for was a way-of-life diet so the weight would go off and stay off and I would be eating healthily as well.

But it was the honey, garlic and vinegar tablets that actually worked and shifted much of the excess weight.

I have gone back to my original size in clothes, I feel very well and it's been a huge boost to my confidence. Furthermore the weight has stayed off, although I have not taken the tablets for a little while. I eat differently now and often include honey, garlic and cider vinegar in a meal.

Wonderful stuff.

So give it a go! Get some honey, garlic and vinegar into your daily routine. It's widely available in your cupboards or a supermarket near you.

Or go for the easy, convenient option and try the capsules. You can do that if you click here:

Honey, Garlic & Vinegar

Another benefit of honey - for your chest!

Honey is a wonderful medicinal food. As reader, T.M has discovered.

Nearly every prescription he's had from his GP has given him nasty side affects from stomach upsets, rashes, and affected vision.

Until last year...

'I had the start of bronchitis in one side of my chest my holistic practitioner, who had been a GP for 25 yrs previous, spotted it. I was told to go home to bed and to make a hot drink of thyme and single source honey, which I did.

I took this not very nice mixture 4 times a day. The second day I was up and pottering around. The pain in my chest was easier. By the fourth day I was out for a walk, with no rattle in my chest. By the seventh I was well with no awful side effects that you get with antibiotics.'

Thanks! I love stories like that.
And this one, too...

A tea tree solution for cold sores

Reader J.W wrote to me about how she came from a family who all lived with regular cold sores.

'I had reached 35 suffering 2 weeks of every month' she says.

Then she tried The Body Shop's Tea Tree Face wash. She noticed an improvement, so bought neat tea tree oil and rubbed it into her lips every morning.

The result?

'I did not have another cold sore for EIGHT years. Until that summer I forgot to take it with me to Norfolk. Two days in the sun and back came the tingle. No tea tree was available on the river, so by the time I got home, there was this ugly sore. I immediately started slapping on the tea tree. Within a week (very fast for me) I was free and have been so ever since. (15 years!)'

See, despite what the medical establishment would have you believe, alternative natural remedies really can work.

The great thing is, these medicines grow all around us

Do you remember The Good Life Letter from the 11th March?

(If not, don't worry. Go to to the search engine and type 'March').

One of my readers, P.W, wrote:

'I spent 30 yrs as a professional gardener, digging up what is our native food and medicine and putting it on
the compost heap.

Couch grass is a diuretic and ground elder is a blood cleanser. And we go to the supermarket and buy salad packs and have all this stuff in our back gardens that we see as weeds.

Eat your weeds I say!

Well, if you were interested in the natural medicines that grow around us, she sent another email about ways to safely identify useful plants and flowers.

The best identity book I have is Roger Phillips 'Wild flowers of Britain' which contain photos of our plants. Apart from allergic reactions that some people have to, say. the compositae family (daisy) taking a lot of a gall bladder stimulant might get a stone stuck and initiate pain. But one would have to eat a mountain of dandelion.'

Good bit of extra information. Cheers.

And finally, if you suffer from fibromyalgia...

Good Lifer, Sabine emailed me to say:

'I am a fibromyalgia syndrome sufferer, and I can tell you that the fibromyalgia handbook was a great read.

It has given me hope that some day I can get back to some sort of normal life, even though I have to make some changes.

Finding doctors that understand the condition is not easy, it's easier to put the problem in the too hard basket, or pass the problem to someone else.'

If you suffer from this condition, you should check out the book that helped Sabine here:

Fibromyalgia Handbook

Right, I'm off to do some gardening, at last. Make sure you check out Sunday's email!

Yours, as ever,

Ray Collins
