Don't fall for this health scam...

11th May 2009

• Don't be fooled by their fluffy nature...

• The three everyday remedies you can rely on
(and a great way to take them:

Honey, Garlic and Vinegar Formula)

You'd never think there was a 'dark side' to natural
health would you...?

I mean eating fresh, natural produce... or taking
powerful, effective herbs hardly seems a world that's
plagued with shady businessmen willing to sell you
anything as long as they make a profit.

In the world of manmade drugs, maybe. But I just
can't envisage police swooping on a banana deal that
went wrong.

But just recently, a number of 'offers' have cropped
up that's made me realise that natural health is big
business, and there are a number of unscrupulous
people happy to take advantage of that...

Don't be fooled by their fluffy nature...

Just because something brays about being 100%
natural, organic, or ecofriendly, don't think that that
means the company behind the product are being on
the level with you.

Take the current swineflu scare that seems to have
people fearing for their lives at the sign of a first
sneeze.

Apparently, ever since swine flu became big news, a
number of Internet sites are saying that their all
natural, healthy products can provide a cure.

Black elderberries for one.

And the diet industry's been only too happy to jump
on the bandwagon as well, with some sites claiming
that their supplements can beat the virus as well.

Well, needless to say, these claims are totally
rubbish.

As far as anyone knows, NO natural remedy can
beat swine flu. Well, it's certainly not been proven
anyway, so no one can claim it as fact.

Now, I know in the past I've screamed till I'm blue
in the face about the fact that governments and
mainstream health organisations refuse to accept
something works unless there's a mountain of
paperwork that says it does.

And I STILL believe that for every illness and
disease out there, there's a natural remedy, or
combination of remedies, that can beat it.
But there's a big difference between being open-
minded to the power of natural remedies and
believing that they can help protect us against
illness, and claiming outright that something can
CURE an illness.

For example, there are three powerful natural
remedies that I talk about all the time, because I
think they can do us the world of good:

The three everyday remedies you can rely on

- HONEY... honey is good for us in so many
ways. It's packed with antioxidants, the powerful
little compounds which fight free radicals. And
we need all the help we can get, because you just
can't walk down the street without getting
hassled by free radicals...

They're in the air, in food, even in sunlight. And
they're being released into our bodies all the
time, which ain't good, because free radicals
seem to be at the root of cancers, heart disease,
Alzheimer's and practically every serious
ailment you can think of.

So the more antioxidants you get inside you, the
more you're helping your body to fight free
radicals and all the danger they possess.

And honey is a great source...

In a 2004 study conducted by the University of
California , 25 people were asked to eat between
4 and 10 tablespoons of buckwheat honey each
day for a month. They could eat the honey in
almost any form, but it couldn't be baked or
dissolved in tea.

After the month was up, the researchers analysed
the blood of all 25 people, and discovered that
the found that eating more honey had increased
the level of polyphenolic antioxidants in the
blood.

So, honey is good. Honey is VERY good.

- GARLIC... this brilliant little flower has been
linked to dozens of great health benefits,
including lowering cholesterol and blood
pressure, and cutting down the threat of stroke
and heart disease.

In one study, a group of people who added garlic
to their diets over a month enjoyed a 12% drop
in cholesterol levels.

And the Journal of Hypertension reported that
taking garlic tablets could cut the risk of stroke
by 30%-40%, and the risk of heart disease by
20%-25%.

So garlic's another of my 'must-have' natural
remedies - something I think we all need to get
into our diet as much as possible.

And my third everyday favourite...?
- VINEGAR... vinegar is packed with healthy
nutrients, including potassium - a mineral that
helps relieve cramps, fatigue and heart arythmia.
I could list a whole host of other ailments
vinegar tackles, but I don't think you want to
still be reading this letter on Tuesday!

But put simply, I believe these three natural
substances are wonderful everyday remedies that can
help you fight illness, help maintain your vigour,
and help protect you from dozens of ailments that
we're bombarded with.

So we should do what we can to get more of these
three substances into our diets. I eat all three
frequently, but I also give my body a boost by using
this...

Honey, Garlic and Vinegar Formula

I find this is the easiest way to make sure I'm getting
all the goodness of these three powerful remedies on
a regular basis.

Plus, when these three substances are combined,
they knit together to give you some really surprising
benefits. Have a read of the report and you'll see
what I mean...

So, yes, I'm a self-confessed Honey, Garlic and
Vinegar nut. And I'd urge everyone to up their
intake.

But I'd never make the jump from that to a claim
like 'honey cures cancer' or 'garlic cures heart
disease'.

Yet that's the sort of approach some dubious 'natural
health' companies are talking when it comes to
swine flu.

Unfortunately, it's just not true.

At present, there are only two proven ways to beat
swine flu if you have it... and they're both man
made - Tamiflu and Relenza.

So if last week's lesson about swine flu was 'don't
believe the sensationalist newspapers', this week's is
'don't trust all natural health web sites simply
because they support natural products'.

Okay, that's enough grumbling from me. I need to
take a break and recharge my batteries so I can enjoy
a good moan, complain or gripe later this evening.
There's bound to be SOMETHING that deserves it.

I'll be back next week with more stories, views and
health tips to keep us in the good life.
PS: If you haven't tried these yet, you should. They
don't make any outrageous claims. They simply help
boost your health - simple as that:
