Does this tin-man symptom affect you…?
19th October 2007
You should see me now...
All I need is an axe and a tin hat, and I could
audition for a remake of The Wizard of Oz...
Because now that winter's showing itself again,
my body seems to have seized up as much as The
Tin Man's.
Honestly, if Lara had a pair of ruby slippers, I'd
ask her to oil my joints every morning and
evening, because at the moment my rheumatism's
being a right pain in the...
Well, in the joints!
You don't know how embarrassing it can be
squeaking into the pub. And although in my case
the pain isn't extreme, for some people
rheumatism can seriously affect their lives.
And at best, it's a constant niggle.
Which is why so many people are desperate to
ease the symptoms, no matter what the cost...
The Grim Reaper - CEOWe've all heard about Vioxx, right?
But the pushing of this drug had such disastrous
consequences, it's well worth telling this dark
little tale again...
Vioxx was developed as a powerful anti
inflammatory that could combat the painful
effects of arthritis and rheumatism.
Basically the drugs company knew there was a
market for this product, and where there's a
market, there's profit.
So they pumped $100 million a year into
marketing the drug, to make sure everyone knew
about it, and everyone took it.
But there was one little problem...
The Wall Street Journal reported that Vioxx
eventually led to more than 27,000 heart attacks
and sudden cardiac deaths.
Bloody irritating when it's making you $2.55
billion isn't it?
So the drug's company stuck their greedy head in
the sand, and only pulled the drug when it
absolutely had to.
Death's not enough, but lawsuits... well, that's
serious.
And it's not just Vioxx that causes problems...
Around 107,000 people are said to be hospitalized
thanks to bad reactions with NSAIDS (the group
of drugs Vioxx belonged in). And at least 16,500
NSAIDrelated deaths occur each year among
arthritis patients.
If ever there was a set of statistics that would
make me doubt the integrity of a large drugs
company ever again, these are it.
All my bleating might prove a point, but it doesn't
make your joints any better, does it.
So what CAN you do...?

Natural is best - again- Good for your roses - and your joints?
Alfalfa tea seems to be something really gets
gardeners going. Apparently rose bushes love
it.
Can you picture a group of building site rose
bushes shouting 'allo darling' at a
nearby rhododendron bush while they swig
alfafa tea from mugs? Sadly, I can. Anyway, after a little digging around, it
seems alfalfa isn't just good for your garden.
- It's also a folk remedy for arthritis in
southern Appalachia. Alfalfa tea is rich
with nutritive minerals - and should be
taken twice a day.
- Try saying this after a drink. Guggulu is a
gummy resin that comes from the plant of
Balsamo-dendron mukul. Whoever named
these must have been having an off
day.Anyway, this resin is said to be very
helpful in curing arthritis. Eat half a teaspoon
twice a day after meals with warm water.
- Use your mind to help ease the pain. This one
is a little weird, but some people swear by it,
and personally I think it makes sense. When
you are emotionally upset, your rheumatism
systems worsen. In fact, when you're upset,
everything can seem worse - so it stands to
reason that a real pain will seem heightened
by the affects of an emotional one.
So the answer - think positive! I know this
may sound a bit tree-huggy, but doing your
best to feel positive and focus on the bright
side of life can't help but make your
symptoms seem less violent.
- Eat Beats! Take four raw finely sliced beets
and soak in a half bottle of berry wine for one
day. Drink a small glass before meals, three
times a day.
- Artrosilium. This main ingredient in this has
been used to treat arthritis and joint pain for
centuries, and in my opinion is a must-try if
you suffer from any form of joint pain. The
beauty of this is how easily it's absorbed
straight into the affected area, so it gets to
work straight away. I won't bore you with
how many powerful, all natural ingredients
are in this, or what other ailments this gets to
work on. Just take a look here for all the
details...
http://www.artrosilium.co.uk/index.php?pac=GLL12 That's all for today. After I've dabbed a bit of
artolsilium on (I make it sound like an aftershave
don't 'I?) I'm off for a stroll to loosen up a bit,
just like the Tin Man on the Yellow Brick Road.
Or, if you believe Lara, maybe more like
Scarecrow... no brains!
I'll be back on Sunday, so until then, take care,
and enjoy yourself.
Yours as ever,
Ray Collins
The Good Life Letter
PS Sunday's letter is going to be very special
indeed. Why? Because I'm going to reveal
something I've been working on for most of the
year. I'm a little nervous - this is the first time
I've shared this with anyone - but I hope you'll
love it.
So make sure you don't miss Sunday's Good
Life! |
